"For well over a decade, students from our school, have been involved in the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus and their programs. Our students have had incredible opportunities including performances with the Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra in addition to several distinguished guest conductors from across the world, including a workshop with Eric Whitacre the past fall. COYC fosters a positive and welcoming learning environment where students can make long-lasting friendships. Not only has participation in COYC helped our students improve as musicians, but they have brought that strong musicianship back to our choir program, which has only made us better as a choir program."

"The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus is, at its core, a source for music education. Having my students in COYC has both enhanced their skills as musicians, while uplifting the work I’m doing with my school choirs. As singers, they attend COYC rehearsals and are challenged as individual performers, learning how to grow in their sight reading, aural skills, vocal technique, and musicianship. They also gain deeper insights into collaboration—whether singing in the smaller Chamber Ensemble, the full Youth Chorus, or even with The Cleveland Orchestra itself. When my students come back to our classroom, they use the vocal techniques discovered in the Youth Chorus rehearsals; they carry themselves with the highest sense of professionalism and focus; and they bring a new joy to the music. The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus supports everything I do in my school rehearsals and more. My school’s music program (choral and instrumental ensembles) is all the better for having students as members of the Youth Chorus."

"Having students participate in COYC is a huge benefit to my school choir program. These kids both improve their skills in COYC and bring that same energy with them back to our home choirs. The Eric Whitacre workshop, annual Honor Choir and the new Tenor/Bass camp allow students to be exposed to even more incredible music, make new friends in other schools, and further develop their musical skills.
Since my first few students joined COYC, the bug has spread and more and more students are becoming diehard choir students. It's great!"
